The United Kingdom is prepared to move forward with employing the entire amount of immobilized Russia's assets to support Ukraine's defense operations, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has announced.

In a joint statement, the leaders of the United Kingdom, the French Republic, and the Federal Republic of Germany emphasized that this unified step would increase strain on Russia's leader Vladimir Putin and persuade Moscow to participate in talks.

They added that the decision would be carried out in strong partnership with the US.

UK sanctions have blocked in excess of £25bn of Russian resources since Russia launched its full-scale invasion against the Ukrainian nation in 2022. Yet, previously, funds allocated to Ukraine using Russia's assets had solely been taken from earnings and returns accrued on them.

Sir Keir informed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that the Britain, the French Republic, and Germany were in agreement in their aim to drive progress toward using the full value of the frozen Moscow's national funds to end the war.

He noted that additional restrictions over the next period would heighten the tension on Moscow.

This statement follows European leaders convened in the Danish capital previously to discuss using seized Russia's funds for a €140bn loan to the Ukrainian nation.

Last month, US President Donald Trump called on G7 allies to confiscate or utilize immobilized Russia's assets, as reported by news outlets.

The value of frozen Russian funds in the Europe is estimated to be approximately €211bn.

Moscow carried out large-scale aerial attacks throughout the Ukrainian territory on that day, leading to power cuts in many areas of the capital city, the city, and eight other regions.

A pair of individuals were fatally injured and at least 20 people were wounded in the assault, the Ukrainian government said.

In a post on social media subsequent to the incident, Zelensky commented that the premeditated assault targeted non-military and power facilities.

"The necessity is not just talk but concrete steps - from the America, the European Union, and the G7 - in supplying anti-aircraft weapons and applying restrictions," he stated.

"Each restrictive measure weakens Moscow's military apparatus," Zelensky wrote, in a different message.

Additionally that day, Zelensky told the press he would press Sir Keir to enter the weapons procurement program, under which partner nations buy military equipment from the US to donate to the Ukrainian forces.

While applauding the UK's firm backing for the Ukrainian government, he noted it should demonstrate clearly that it would take part in the initiative, as well as enforce more measures on Russia.
