Los Angeles Experiences Unprecedented High Temperatures Just Days Following Severe Winter Storm.
In the wake of significant rainfall that resulted in floodwaters across parts of the city, the City of Angels is now seeing unseasonably warm temperatures for late February.
Record-Shattering Heat
By Friday afternoon, the temperature climbed to 33 degrees Celsius (91 Fahrenheit) in downtown Los Angeles, as reported by meteorologists. This exceeds the prior high for this date, which was eighty-eight degrees Fahrenheit and was set in 2025.
"Exceptionally warm weather" were highlighted on forecast charts for the region.
Safety Advisories
Authorities issued a warning that Friday's conditions posed an "higher threat for heat illness" for vulnerable populations. Their guidance featured:
- Drinking plenty of fluids.
- Avoiding outdoor activities during the afternoon hours of the day.
- Never leaving children or pets unattended in a car.
A Dramatic Shift
This sudden spike in mercury follows closely after a massive winter storm that struck the region recently. That event unleashed heavy snow, strong winds, and thunderstorms to higher elevations, causing evacuation orders for countless residents.

Weekend Outlook
The outlook suggests cooler conditions is coming. The heat were expected to decrease to around 61°F (16°C) in downtown LA by Friday night.
Additional areas that experienced ninety degrees were Woodland Hills, Long Beach, and Burbank. Meanwhile, Santa Maria, Oxnard, Camarillo, and Westwood were projected to experience the high eighties.
For the weekend, central Los Angeles can expect weather in the eighties, with mid-70s temperatures expected for the start of March.
