Outrage as Beloved South African DJ Shot Dead in the Heart of Johannesburg.
A prominent South African media personality and entertainer has been murdered in the nation's economic hub Johannesburg, sending shockwaves across a country struggling with rampant crime.
Warrick Stock, who went by the name DJ Warras, was attacked in the central business district on Tuesday afternoon.
Officials stated the 40-year-old entertainer was confronted by three individuals, with one opened fire on him before running away.
The motive of the shooting has not been established and no arrests are in custody, as per the official statement.
How It Happened
Police revealed that Stock was ambushed as he was departing from a building in the vicinity of the Carlton Centre.
He had been present for hours at the site managing the installation of safety equipment, which had been controversially occupied by squatters, it was reported.
"It is alleged the victim was approached by three unknown suspects after parking his vehicle, and they shot at him before escaping on foot," a police statement stated.
CCTV footage reportedly captured a suspect with dreadlocked hair and wearing what resembled a protective services outfit shooting on Stock before making his escape.
The DJ attempted to flee after he was wounded but collapsed on the opposite side of the road.
It was further revealed that Stock had an weapon on his person and nothing was taken during the assault.
