The Gaming Giant Hires Apex Legends Producer to Revitalize Troubled Action Game Project Ethos

2K Games has appointed a seasoned producer from the creators of Apex Legends to lead the development team at 31st Union, which is currently crafting the anticipated over-the-shoulder roguelike extraction-shooter known as Project Ethos.

Leadership Transition Comes After Lukewarm Response

The new appointee takes on the leadership position at the development studio following the exit of former leader Michael Condrey, who was reportedly let go due to the game's lackluster early showing last fall.

On Wednesday, 2K president David Ismailer updated team members about this strategic move through an internal memo, which stressed that early feedback sessions had shown the necessity for a distinct direction.

The president noted that the team is now reimagining Project Ethos with a renewed focus, aiming to better meet player expectations.

Trend of Strategic Acquisitions

The news echoes a comparable step taken by the publisher in August, when they hired an industry veteran from Blizzard to contribute to the BioShock studio Cloud Chamber.

Here is the full text from Ismailer's memo:
