Two Victims Identified in the Ivy League School Shooting as Law Enforcement Persist in Hunt for Gunman.

Two students who died in Saturday’s mass shooting at Brown University had tributes paid to them on Monday – while an intensive search for their assailant continued following the release by Rhode Island officials of the sole person questioned in the case.

Remembering Ella Cook

Ella Cook, a sophomore from Alabama, was remembered as “an amazing, stable, pious, radiant soul”, according to the Cathedral Church of the Advent, Birmingham, which honored her memory at a service on Sunday.

Cook was vice-president of Brown’s division of College Republicans of America, the group said. Karoline Leavitt also expressed sympathies publicly, remarking: “It's indescribable. Remembering her loved ones and companions, above all her mom and dad.”

The Second Victim

The other deceased individual was an Uzbek national named MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, from Uzbekistan in his initial year at the Ivy League university, his family confirmed.

His name was verified by Uzbekistan’s foreign ministry.

“He was incredibly kind, funny, and smart. He had big dreams of entering the field of neurosurgery and helping people,” his sibling Samira said in a tribute.

What Happened

An additional nine individuals were wounded in Saturday’s attack in the engineering building of Brown’s campus in Providence, during the university's examination week.

Officials stated on Sunday evening that a man aged 24 detained in a search at a hotel about around 27 kilometers from the university earlier in the day was being released.

“We have a murderer out there,” said Peter Neronha, Peter Neronha.

Neronha explained, “Investigations can lead one way, and then you must reassess and head another way, and this is precisely what occurred over the last approximately one day.”

Ongoing Concerns

Providence’s mayor, Brett Smiley, noted: “It is expected to provoke renewed concern for our community”.

The gunman opened fire inside a lecture hall in the engineering facility on Saturday, firing more than 40 rounds from a 9mm handgun, a authority reported to the Associated Press.

Police that raided the lodging found a pair of pistols and magazines when the person of interest was detained, the news agency reported.

Those Hurt

Of the nine hurt, one student was released from the hospital, mentioned Brown’s president, Christina Paxson. Seven others were in critical but stable condition, and one was in critical condition, police said on Sunday.

A private school, a private academy in Durham, North Carolina, said a former student, Kendall Turner, was in the group of seriously hurt victims.

Cook was honored at a church service in Birmingham on Sunday. A pastor commented, “Her presence was a wonderful, steady, pious glow not only here growing up... but at Brown she was a shining example in that institution as well.”

Martin Bertao, Martin Bertao, posted a statement from the organization. “Ella was known for her courageous, valiant, and compassionate nature as she aided her club and other students,” he said.

An American diplomat, Jonathan Henick, said he was “extremely sorrowful” by Umurzokov’s death in a tribute. “We extend our sincere condolences to the Umurzokov family, companions, and peers and grieve for of his bright future.”
